Part I: English & General Knowledge including current affairs (30 Marks)
English: Synonyms & Antonyms, Phrases & Idioms, Prepositions & Articles, Comprehension, Sentence/Word Ordering, Spotting Errors, Qualifying words, Parts of speech, Gender, Person & Number, Tense, Voice change.
General Knowledge including current affairs: Geography of India & Tripura, History of Tripura (1857-1949), Culture of Tripura, Indian Polity and Economy, Science & Technology, Current affairs of national and international importance.
Part II: Agriculture (150 Marks)
Agriculture in India and Tripura: General scenario, cropping pattern, land use, major crops, production and productivity, organic farming, farm mechanization, agricultural extension systems, rural development programs, agricultural finance, etc.
Natural Resource Management: Soil science (soil formation, properties, classification, fertility, degradation), water management (irrigation, drainage, water harvesting), watershed management, agro-forestry, environmental protection, climate change.
Fundamentals of Crop Production: Agronomy (tillage, sowing, nutrient management, weed management, harvesting), principles of crop production, crop rotation, integrated farming systems.
Horticulture: Fundamentals of horticulture, cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, plantation crops, post-harvest management, protected cultivation.
Crop Improvement:
Genetics: Principles of heredity, variation, Mendelian genetics, gene interaction, linkage and crossing over, chromosomal aberrations.
Crop Physiology: Photosynthesis, respiration, plant growth regulators, stress physiology, nutrient uptake.
Plant Breeding: Principles and methods of plant breeding, breeding for resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses, heterosis breeding, mutation breeding, biotechnology in crop improvement.
Seed and Seed Technology: Seed production, processing, storage, testing, seed certification, seed health.
Crop Protection:
Plant Pathology: Major plant diseases (causes, symptoms, diagnosis), disease cycles, epidemiology, principles and methods of plant disease management, Integrated Disease Management (IDM), fungicides & antibiotics. Emphasis on diseases prevalent under agro-climatic conditions of Tripura.
Agricultural Entomology: Insect morphology and physiology, insect classification, insect ecology, pest management (cultural, mechanical, biological, chemical), Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Emphasis on pests prevalent under agro-climatic conditions of Tripura.
Social Science: Farm Business Management (farm planning, budgeting, accounting), Agricultural Extension (extension methods, communication, diffusion of innovations), and Agricultural Marketing & Market Intelligence (marketing channels, price analysis, market information).

How to Apply for the Agriculture Officer Post
Applying for the Agriculture Officer position with the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) is a straightforward online process. Please follow these steps carefully:
Online Application Only: All applications must be submitted exclusively through the TPSC Online Application Portal. No hard copy applications will be accepted under any circumstances.
One Time Profile Registration (OTPR): If you are a new applicant, you must first register your bio-data by completing the One Time Profile Registration (OTPR) on the Commission’s official website: https://tpsc.tripura.gov.in.
Receive User ID: After successfully completing your OTPR, a unique User ID will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number and/or email ID. Keep this User ID safe, as it is essential for all future applications.
Apply for the Post: Use your generated OTPR User ID to log in to the portal and apply specifically for the Agriculture Officer post.
Avoid Multiple Applications: Please ensure you submit only one application for the post. If, for any reason, you submit multiple applications, make sure that the application with the latest Application Number is complete and accurate. The Commission will only consider the latest submitted application. Please note that application fees are non-adjustable in such cases.
Document Submission: You are not required to upload or submit any certificates or documents with your initial online application.
Post-Written Exam Document Submission: Only candidates who qualify in the written examination will be required to submit self-attested copies of their relevant documents. This typically includes proof of age, educational qualifications, caste certificates (ST/SC), Physically Handicapped (PH) certificates, Ex-Servicemen (Ex-SM) certificates, and the Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura (PRTC), to the TPSC as per their instructions.
Remember to complete your application and pay the recruitment fee (Rs. 350/- for General candidates; Rs. 250/- for ST/SC/BPL card holders/Physically Handicapped candidates) by the last date: 20-08-2025 (upto 5:30 PM). Incomplete applications or those without the requisite fee will be rejected. A correction window of 7 days will be provided after the closing date for any necessary edits to your online application form.
